Aimal Khan, coming from Pakistan, is currently serving as an assistant professor in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Wuhan Textile University (WTU).
When he was in Pakistan, he always thought of going to China for broad study, and achieving higher education study and excellent scientific achievement. After obtained his PhD degree and completed the Postdoctorate work from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, he joined Prof. Aihua Xu and Xiaoxia Li’s group in WTU.
He successfully synthesized several novel manganese-based catalysts, evaluated the catalytic efficiencies of transition-metal oxides, and constructed efficient systems for the degradation of various organic pollutants in the lab, and planned to develop further innovation to treat organic pollutants in actual industrial wastewater. It was found that Mn-based nanostructure catalysts exhibited significant stability and reusability for peroxymonosulfate or sulfite activation to degrade organic contaminants. He says that the novel Mn-based catalysts-based advanced oxidation technology is expected to break through the theoretical innovation and key technologies of efficient wastewater treatment.
Although there were few full-time foreign scholars in WTU before, Aimal Khan found it very convenient here. It was very fast for him to register for employment, handle accommodation and adapt to the new laboratory group. He communicates well with the team members, often discussing issues with the professors and masters, exchanging experimental skills and meaningful references, and enjoying outdoor activities together. He has published 5 SCI articles in WTU, including Journal of Hazardous Materials, Separation and Purification Technology, and Applied Surface Science.
With the help of the team professors, he successfully earned "Young Foreign Talents Program" of Ministry of Science and Technology in 2022. The program focuses on supporting friendly young foreign talents with high scientific research potential to carry out research cooperation in China, and promoting long-term and stable academic exchanges and research in China by young foreign scholars. Through the implementation of this project, he can actively promote the implementation of more international exchange and cooperation projects, and continuously improve the internationalization level of scientific research, discipline construction and talent training.
